About This Spot

Walking into Taller Xilotl, you immediately notice a quiet charm that feels both intimate and unhurried, a welcoming pause tucked away from the usual city bustle. This seafood spot in the heart of Ciudad de México offers a cozy, almost tucked-away atmosphere where the pace allows diners to savor each moment. Whether seated on the sunlit terrace or inside with a view toward the kitchen’s rhythmic bustle, the space invites you to lean into the small details — the subtle interplay of light, the warm hum of conversation, and the attentive yet relaxed service.

Here, the seafood experience is less about fanfare and more about thoughtful craftsmanship and nuance. The menu feels like a personal invitation to explore familiar flavors reimagined with care and subtlety. Tacos and gorditas arrive with quiet confidence, their fresh ingredients and balanced seasonings encouraging exploration bite by bite. Drinks are crafted with similar intention, offering the kind of thoughtful mixology that invites a slower savoring rather than quick rounds. This is a place where a tequila cocktail is more than a drink—it’s part of a mood that complements the ocean’s bounty on your plate.

It’s rare to find a spot where the energy hums gently rather than shouting for attention, yet the kitchen’s creativity quietly pulls you deeper into the experience. The mix of classic flavors with unexpected touches sparks moments of joy, whether from a perfectly crisp gordita or the gentle warmth of a dessert enjoyed at the end of the evening. Taller Xilotl embraces the rituals of meal and company in ways that feel both timeless and personal, inviting locals and visitors alike to discover a different kind of seafood celebration.

Absolutely incredible meal all around. Great service, delicious food, and warm ambiance/vibes. We had the risotto and many different tacos—all wonderful. Thoughtful and creative dishes beautifully presented. 100% recommend!

A idem Gem in the city. The food is carefully prepared and flavour full. The revive is relax and made with attention. I loved the terrasse, the food and the very nice place out of the tourist track. Go there and try the fish tacos. It’s worth it!

We were so happy to find this place for our first meal in the city. The staff was kind, the attention to flavors and detail in presentation were stellar. We sat in the patio with a window overlooking the kitchen which was fun. All fresh ingredients. Try it!

I Guess my expectations were quite high since I heard and read a lot of raved reviews of this place. This is not to say the food was not good. It was. But I also thought some of the tacos we ordered were not exciting and lacked some salt. My favorite was the Shrimp Gordita. I would 100% come back for that. The next exciting thing was the shrimp with chorizo taco. Very nice. However, the Chile relleno with fish of the day, tuna tostada, shrimp enchipotlados and the mushroom tacos were less exciting. The shrimp enchipotlados had waaay too much mayonnaise. And the mushroom taco was overpowered by toasted peanuts. The only thing I would come back for is honestly the gordita. Space here was very small and limited. It was a bit challenging to eat properly.

Very small Taco joint. Open kitchen that allows you to see how fresh everything is. Every taco we tried were great. The scallops were well seasoned. A little on the expensive side but worth it If you'd like unique flavors. However, you can skip if you are limited on time. The service is very good. Little to no ambiance because you got there to eat & leave. Drinks were ok. Reservation needed. We were lucky to find a place.

In a city where you can find the same tacos everywhere, Señior Harvey, the chef provides something different and amazing. His menu and tacos are inspired by his travels throughout Mexico and the world. He tries to take from the different cultures and different spices and prepare foods that are a representive and a mix of both many Mexican and other cultures. I think he did a great job. He got his experience working at the best hotel restaurants in the city and from what I can rememberhas had other restaurants in the city in past. We did not try all of his tacos. However, we loved the octopus tacos, pulpa, and the Baja fish tacos. Some reviews commented on the flavoring of the tacos but the tacos are served with a well-curated amazing selection of salsas, from mild to extremely hot and we were encouraged to use them and I would encourage you! to try them also. This restaurant was one of the only places we ate at where you can actually taste the alcohol in the drinks. We didn't try the dessert but reviews from others say it is very good. We enjoyed talking with the waiter and the owner. The evening was wonderful and dinner memorable. Yes, the restaurant is very small and we were extremely fortunate to walk by and grab a table because of a special event happening at the Zocalo that evening. The area was fairly free of people. I agree other reviews that the seating is tight. It's probably best for singles and couples. So when I come back to Mexico City this first place I will try to return to. Hopefully I will find a seat.

I truly recommend this place, you should do reservation with time because it’s a small place. My favorite dish was one I couldn’t take photo, “Costra de atún Marlín” it was a of flavors in my mouth. La gordita I liked it, but wasn’t my favorite, would give 8/10 and Taco Pescado estilo Baja, was good but I’ve had better. The dessert to finish was a key lime pie, with ice cream, I loved it! But what really must change is the service, we had our last tacos almost 30-40 minutes later than the first dishes, wasn’t hungry by the time it was served. But very friendly.
